This is a beta feature. See Get beta access.
Not everyone you play with is on Kallax.io, and that’s fine. Plays can include friends with an account, people you’ve saved by name and people you don’t want to keep track of.

Add players

When you log a play, the player box (Add a friend, guest or start typing a name) offers:
  • yourself;
  • your friends, under Friends;
  • your guest identities, listed under Your players;
  • Create Guest Identity, when you type a new name;
  • Guest, which is always there.
A guest identity is a lightweight record of someone you play with who isn’t linked to a Kallax.io account, for example because they aren’t on Kallax.io, or aren’t your friend there yet. You can pick it again next time, and link it to their account later. A guest is someone you don’t want to keep track of. They’re shown by their seat, such as “Guest 2”. If you typed something before picking Guest, it’s kept as a note on that guest, such as “Anna’s cousin”. Each person can be in a play only once. Open a player’s row to add more about them: their team, turn order and a note, whether it was their first time, whether they taught the game, and whether they were an Observer who sat at the table without playing. If the game’s score template has extra fields, such as a faction or a colour, they’re on the row too. Swap player puts someone else in a seat. The scores, result, team and other details stay; only the person changes. Remove player takes the player out, with their scores.

One person logs, everyone joins

One person at the table logs the game. Friends you add to it are linked to the play straight away and get a notification. The play then shows up in their own history too, so they don’t have to log it again.
You can add any friend, but a friend can only open the play and get its notification once they have beta access. Until then they’re in the play, but can’t see it.
A friend in your play can:
  • see it, exactly as you logged it;
  • Confirm result on a finished play, to show they agree with it. They can take it back with Withdraw confirmation;
  • Ask the owner to change it, which opens a chat with the person who logged it;
  • Leave this play, which takes it out of their history and leaves their seat in the play as a guest.
Confirmed results are marked in the standings. Only you can change your play. If a friend thinks something is wrong, they can ask you to change it, or leave the result unconfirmed. Changing the result afterwards clears the confirmations.

Players

Players in the menu opens your player history: everyone you have played with as a guest identity, and the friends who are in your plays. Only you can see it. It has two sections: Unlinked, for guest identities that are only a name, and Linked, for identities linked to a friend and friends who are in your plays. For each guest identity you can:
  • rename it, or add a note about who it is, with the pencil;
  • Link to a friend;
  • Merge with another player that turns out to be the same person.
Has someone you logged as a guest identity joined Kallax.io and become your friend? Link the identity to them. They’re added to every play you logged with that identity, and get one notification about it. Your whole history together now shows up for them too. Choose Remove the link to take them off those plays again.

Merge two identities

Logged the same person under two names? Use Merge with on one of them and pick the other. All plays move to the one you picked, and the first is removed. This can’t be undone. If one of the two is linked to a friend, that friend is added to the plays of both. Two identities linked to different friends can’t be merged.

Who can change a play

  • The person who logged a play is the only one who changes it.
  • If they leave it, the play stays for the other players, and shows This play has no owner. The first of them to choose Edit and claim takes it over.
  • If nobody else in the play is linked, leaving deletes it. You’re warned first.
  • If someone deletes their account, the play stays for the others, and they remain in it as a guest with a note that their account was deleted.
  • If the person who started a session deletes their account, the session stays, but its date, place and notes can’t be changed any more.
