Communities bring players together around a place or a group. A community can be a private group of friends, a local gaming club, or a board game café with a game library you can browse before you visit.

Find communities

Open Communities from the main menu to browse communities on a list and a map. Filter by Community Types and Location. Communities you are part of are also listed in the main menu for quick access.

Community types

Join a community

Open a community page and use the button under its name. What it says depends on the community’s membership policy:
  • Follow: anyone can follow to get updates.
  • Join: you become a member straight away.
  • Request Membership: a moderator must approve you. The button shows Request Pending until they do.
Once you are in, the button shows Joined. If someone shares an invite link to a community with you, just open it.

Inside a community

A community page has tabs. Which tabs you see depends on the community’s settings and your role.
  • Overview: the community’s description, location and website.
  • Library: the games you can play there. You get all the Search filters, so you can find a two-player game under an hour in seconds.
  • Chat: talk with the other members.
  • Members: who is in the community.
  • Events: upcoming events at the community. See Events.
On the Search page, communities you belong to appear under Collections, so you can search a café’s library alongside your friends’ shelves.

Choose Create from the Communities page.
1

Pick a type

Choose the type that fits best. See the table above.
2

Tell us your role (places)

For cafés, stores, bars and other places, choose either:
  • I love this place and would like to share it! to add a place you enjoy to the map.
  • I am the owner or official representative! to manage the community yourself.
You need a complete profile to manage a community.
3

Add the details

Enter a Name, a short Description, the Location so it appears on the map, and an optional Website.
4

Choose a library mode

  • Shared: combine the members’ collections into one library. Used by gaming groups.
  • Library: use your own collection as the community’s library. Used by places.
  • None: no game library.
5

Choose a membership policy

  • Follow: anyone can follow for updates.
  • Members: join requests are approved automatically.
  • Moderated: join requests need approval.
Some types only allow certain policies. For example, gaming groups are always moderated, and stores, bars and libraries use Follow.
There is a limit on how many communities you can create. Enthusiast supporters can create more.

Manage a community

Members and roles

Community members have one of these roles: Owner, Moderator, Member or Follower. In the Members tab, owners and moderators can:
  • Share an invite link with people they want to invite.
  • Accept or Reject people who asked to join.
  • Change role or Kick user from a member’s menu.
  • Tick Show followers to include followers in the list (shown when the community has followers).
Moderators can only change people to Member or Follower, and can not change the role of owners or other moderators. Gaming groups can have up to 50 members.

Settings

Owners open the Manage tab to:
  • Change the image, name, description, website, location and membership policy.
  • Choose who can see each tab (Overview, Library, Chat, Members, Events) and which tab opens first.
  • Choose who can submit events to the community.
  • Make the community Listed, so it shows on the Communities page and in search engines, or keep it Unlisted (the default).
