# Friends

> Add friends on Kallax.io, manage requests and browse each other's game collections.

Board games are better with friends. Adding someone as a friend lets you search their collection, see which games they own and plan game nights together.

Open **Friends** from the main menu to get started. You need to be logged in.

## Invite a friend

At the top of the Friends page you will find **Start a Friendship** with three ways to invite someone:

    Click the copy icon next to your personal link and send it to your friend in any chat or message. The link opens your profile, where they can send you a friend request.

    Sitting at the same table? Let your friend scan the QR code on the page with their phone camera.

  <Step title="Invite by email">
    Click **Invite by email**, type your friend's email address and send.

  You need to verify your own email address in **Settings** before you can send invites by email.

## Send a friend request from a profile

When you visit someone's profile, the button under their name shows where you stand:

| Button                     | What it means                                     |
| -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| **Send friend request**    | You are not friends yet. Click to send a request. |
| **Friend request sent**    | You are waiting for them to accept.               |
| **Accept friend request?** | They have asked you. Click to accept.             |
| **Already friends**        | You are friends.                                  |

## Find people

Use the search box under **Search for friends!** to look up other users by name. Click the **⋮** menu on a person's card and choose **Request friendship**.

## Manage your friends and requests

Every friend and pending request is shown as a card. The card tells you the status, for example "Friends since" a date, and whether the person has a verified BoardGameGeek account.

Open the **⋮** menu on a card for these options:

* **View profile**: open their profile page.
* **Search in collection**: jump to Search with their collection selected, so you only see games they own.
* **Send message**: start a private chat (friends only).
* **Set nickname**: give a friend a name that only you see.
* **End friendship**: remove them from your friends.
* **Accept request** or **Reject request**: answer a request someone sent you.
* **Revoke request**: cancel a request you sent.
