# Your collection

> Import your board games into Kallax.io, organise them in folders and keep everything up to date.

Your collection is the list of board games you own or want. Once your games are on Kallax.io, friends and communities can see what you have, and you can search your own shelf with all the filters on the [Search](/guides/search) page.

## Import your games

There are four ways to add games. Pick whichever suits you, and mix them as you like.

### Import from BoardGameGeek

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open BGG Sync">
    Go to **BGG Sync** from the collection section of the main menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your BoardGameGeek username">
    Type your username and press Enter or click the sync icon. Kallax.io fetches your collection from BoardGameGeek.

    Large collections can take a little while. If BoardGameGeek is still preparing your collection, you will see **BoardGameGeek is processing your collection...** and Kallax.io keeps trying automatically.

  <Step title="Review the changes">
    Nothing changes until you confirm. The changes are grouped into:

    * **Ready to be Added**: games that are new to your Kallax.io collection. Games on your BoardGameGeek wishlist are marked **Wishlisted**.
    * **Ready to be Updated**: games you already have where something changed, for example a wishlisted game you now own.
    * **Ready to be Removed**: games that are on Kallax.io but no longer owned or wishlisted on BoardGameGeek.
    * **No Action Required**: games that are already up to date, plus BoardGameGeek entries that are not imported (see below).

    Untick any rows you do not want to apply. A summary shows how many games will be added, updated and removed.

    Click **Apply changes to collection**, or apply only the ones you selected.

<Note>
  Only games marked as **owned** or **wishlisted** on BoardGameGeek are imported. Entries marked only as Previously Owned, For Trade, Want, Want to Play, Want to Buy, Preordered or Do Not Buy are counted under **No Action Required** and left out.

<Tip>
  You can sync again whenever you like. Only the differences are shown each time, so it is safe to run after every trade or purchase.
</Tip>

#### If something goes wrong

* **The user could not be found on BoardGameGeek**: check the spelling of your username.
* **BoardGameGeek is taking too long to respond**: wait a few minutes and try again.

### Bulk import by title

    Choose **Bulk Import** in the collection section of the main menu.

  <Step title="Paste your list">
    Type or paste game titles, separated by commas or one per line. For example: `Codenames, Wingspan, Azul`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Preview the import">
    Click **Preview Import**. Each title is matched against every game and expansion in the database, and small spelling mistakes are fine. Each match is labelled so you can see how confident it is.

  <Step title="Resolve any doubts">
    If a title matches several games or editions, it is marked **Ambiguity** and you choose the right one. If you already own a matching game, you can choose to add an extra copy.

  <Step title="Import">
    Confirm, and a summary shows what was added.

### Scan barcodes

The scanner is designed for phones. Choose **Scan Game** in the collection section of the main menu.

    Tap **Start camera**, allow camera access, then point the camera at the barcode on a game box and hold steady.

  <Step title="Keep scanning">
    Each game you scan is added to the **Scanned board games** list. You can scan a whole shelf in one go. Tap **Pause camera** to take a break.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the list">
    Games that were found show their title. If a barcode matches more than one game, pick the right one. If a barcode is not recognised, you can type it in by hand with **Enter manually** (use the UPC or EAN number printed under the barcode).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add to your collection">
    Select the games you want (or use **Select all**) and tap **Add**, or tap **Wishlist** to put them on your wishlist instead.

  Not logged in? You can still scan and use **Download as CSV** to keep a list of your games.
</Tip>

### Add games from search

Search for any game on the [Search](/guides/search) page and add it to your collection from the result. Use the **⋮** menu on a game to add it to a specific folder or add an extra copy.

## Organise with folders

Folders help you group your games, for example "Party games", "At the cabin" or "Lent to Anna". A game can be in several folders.

To create a folder, choose **Manage Folders** on your collection page and fill in:

* **Folder name** and an optional **Description**.
* Whether games in the folder **appear in search results**. Visible folders tell others you have the game. Hidden folders are for games that are not really on your shelf, such as games you sold or want to track privately.

Some folders, such as your wishlist, are built in and can not be edited.

  Games on your wishlist, in a hidden folder, or marked as promo or unofficial items do not show up when others search your collection.
</Note>

## Edit your games

On your collection page you can search by title or comment, sort your games and open the **⋮** menu on any game to:

* **Add to**, **Move to** or **Remove from** a folder.
* Add a **Comment**.
* **View details** about the game.
* **Delete** it from your collection.

### Collection Editor

For bigger clean-ups, open **Collection Editor** from the main menu. It shows your whole collection as a spreadsheet:

* Click a cell to edit it.
* Select many rows at once to add them to a folder, remove them from folders or set where the copies are stored (**Location**).
* Filter and sort any column.
* Under **Settings**, choose which columns to show, drag to reorder them and give columns your own names (aliases).
* Click **Export as CSV** to download your collection. Your column choices and aliases are used in the export.
