# Kiosk mode

> Show off your café's game library in store on a tablet, where guests can browse and search but can't change anything.

Kiosk mode turns a tablet, such as an iPad on the counter or a table, into a screen where your guests can explore your game library. They can search and read about every game, while everything that could change your collection or open your account is hidden.

It is made for cafés, stores, bars and libraries that want to show off their games in store.

## What guests see

When nobody is using the tablet, it shows a welcome screen with your logo, your name and **Search our board game library!** over a loading animation.

Guests tap the screen to start. They land on the Search page, already limited to your library, with all the [Search](/guides/search) filters. That way they can find a two-player game under an hour in seconds and open any game to read more about it.

When nobody has touched the tablet for a minute, it goes back to the welcome screen, ready for the next guest.

  Guests who like a game can take it with them. **Open on Mobile** on a game page shows a QR code for their phone. Tapping the footer shows a QR code for your community page on Kallax.io.

## What is locked away

While kiosk mode is on:

* The main menu, notifications and events are hidden.
* Searches only cover your library. Guests can't pick other collections or see who owns a game.
* Guests can't add games to a collection.
* Your community page only shows the Overview and Library tabs, with **Open on Mobile** in place of the join button.

## Turn on kiosk mode

You need:

* To be an owner of the community, with Enthusiast.
* A community with a game library. See [Create and run a community](/guides/communities#create-and-run-a-community).

    Open Kallax.io on the tablet and sign in with your own account.

    Go to your community page and open the **Manage** tab.

    Under **Experimental**, select **Activate Kiosk Mode**. The tablet switches to the welcome screen.

<Tip>
  Install Kallax.io on the tablet with **Install App**, so guests don't get an address bar. For a full lock, also use the tablet's own screen lock for a single app, such as Guided Access on iPad or screen pinning on Android.

## Turn off kiosk mode

Force close the app on the tablet and open it again. Kallax.io starts in the normal mode.
